elevated WIXeG It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the beloved, Ianthe D’Souza, who passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2024. She spent her last two weeks of life in the care of Brampton Civic Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of her family.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe was born on September 9, 1961 in Ernakulam Cochin, India. She grew up in a close-knit family sharing a special bond with her siblings. With her father’s encouragement, Ianthe earned her Masters in English Literature and continued on to complete her Bachelor of Education. She taught in India for five years before immigrating to Canada to build a wonderful life alongside her husband.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe had a fulfilling career as a high school English teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, where she taught for 30 years. Ianthe, known by all for her kindness and thoughtfulness, built strong relationships with her colleagues, many of whom became her lifelong friends. In the classroom, she made it a priority to truly get to know each of her students, approaching every interaction with compassion as if they were her own children.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe cherished the little things in life. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking. She loved making homemade greeting cards, seeing plays at the Stratford and Shaw Festival, going on trips near or far with family, and celebrating her children’s milestones big or small. Her family was her greatest joy, and her children her proudest accomplishment.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe was a woman of fervent faith. After retiring, she dedicated her time to the Guardian Angels Parish. She became an active member of the Rosary Apostolate and the Sacramental Preparation team. Her unwavering faith brought her strength and solace until the very end.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe will forever be dearly missed by her husband, Eugene; her daughter, Zephra; and her son, Zoel, and his fiance, Nicole. She is survived by her devoted mother, Beryl; her older brother, Stephen, and his wife, Angela, and their children, Althea and Natasha; her younger brother, Ashley, and his wife, Molly, and their daughter, Karen; and her younger sister, Valerie, and her daughter, Katelyn. She is now reunited with her father, Percival, in heaven, finding eternal peace by his side.

elevated WIXeG Ianthe touched the lives of many with her kind heart, reassuring voice and generous spirit. She will be profoundly missed and forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
