Dear Mark, Ann, Bob & Andrew:
On behalf of my brother Chris and sister Yvonne, I would like to send our sincere and heart felt condolences at the loss of your beloved mother. She was a wonderful lady.
To share, I can still recall how much she loved the Simon & Garfunkel song “Cecilia” and it still brings a smile to my face to this day when I hear it. I can still visualize her dancing to it at the cottage when she visited our parents and I played it on the tape deck! Good memories, indeed!
May she rest in peace knowing that she was loved by her family and friends.
Best Regards,
Mark Chmielewski
Dear Mark, thank you very much for sympathy for our mother. Thank you also for sharing your memory of Mom dancing to Cecilia at the cottage. She loved going to Diamond Lake and visiting nearby friends like your parents and your family. We all have very fond memories of our youth at the cottage!
Dear Mark,
What a lovely memory of our mother. She really enjoyed her visits with your mom, and going mushroom picking together.

Jean and I offer our heart felt condolences to the family at this time of such great sadness. So grateful that Janina and Frank discovered Diamond Lake and created a clan of lovers of cottage life there. Sharing that connection gives us a true sense of the special people that Jean and her beloved Frank must have been throughout their lives. May precious memories be of comfort to you.

Dear Irene,
Thank-you for your kindness. You and Kaz were always very special to both my parents. Looking through mom’s photos we can see all the memories you shared together over the years.
Today, with my mother, Stasia, we viewed the beautiful on-line mass and celebration of life for Janina. We express our heartfelt condolences for the loss of your beautiful mother. Many, many years ago, in Africa, my mum and dad forged a lovely friendship with France and Janina. Just two weeks before Janina’s passing, my mum called and shared memories of times in Africa. Bearing witness to their wedding and spending time together before the birth of Mark, and later Yvonne, my mother held the Petit family in high regard. Re-uniting in Canada many years later, their connection endured and we will be forever grateful for sharing time with France and Janina. My mother is sad for your loss and for the loss of a cherished friend from many years ago, both having shared a tremendous life journey from Poland, to Tanganyika, and now Canada. May her soul rest in peace. Fondly Stasia Haydar.
Dear Doris and Stasia,
Thank-you so much for your prayers and for sharing these wonderful memories with our family. We know how much it meant to mom that Stasia phoned her and recalled all their special times together. The last year during this terrible pandemic they each took comfort in their shared memories. We will never forget Stasia’s kindness.
I am sending this message of sympathy on behalf of my mother, Stasia. Janina and Stasia were dear and old time friends, from Dar-es-Salaam days. Stasia is truly saddened to learn of the loss and she sends her heartfelt condolences to the Petit family, Stasia will forever remember Janina and Frank and she misses her friend dearly. Together, they shared many memorable times in Africa and we often review the photographs from those days. They had much in common, both being displaced from Poland at an early age. Their’s is an amazing story. They endure great hardships and made their extraordinary journey from Poland, to Tanganyika and finally Toronto, meaningful. My parents were witness to Frank and Janina’s wedding, and birth of Mark and Yvonne and there are many fond memories to cherish. On behalf of the Haydars, we celebrate the wonderful life of Janina, give thanks for her lovely family and our hearts a sad on her passing. May her soul rest in peace.
Dear Stasia,
We cannot express how much we appreciated you being such a good friend to our mom. She told us many exciting stories of your times together in Africa. However, you also shared so many difficult life experiences that only you both could understand. The last year must have been very lonely for mom after losing our dad, but you helped comfort her. Thank-you for your thoughts and prayers.
Mark, our condolences to you on the passing of your mother. Know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
Thinking of you.
Take care,
Joe & Lynn
