It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss we announce the peaceful passing of João “John” DeFreitas on March 25, 2025, at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, in Maple at the age of 80. Born on February 7, 1945 in Madeira, Cruzinhas Do Faial. Beloved husband of 56 years to Laurinda (nee Lemos). Loving father of Helder. Proud Avô of Johnny. Dear brother of Florentina, the late Manuel and the late Cesar. John will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of his many extended family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.

Mary, I’m so sorry to hear of your father in laws passing. Based on all the stories you would share, there is no doubt the world has lost a beautiful soul.
