elevated apxOx Obituary
elevated apxOx It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Joao Luis Andrade Quintal on March 28, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on August 19, 1940, in Funchal, Madeira, Portugal, Joao built a life of hard work and dedication, running his own business to support his family. In 1969, he emigrated to Canada in pursuit of a brighter future while remaining steadfast in his Portuguese roots, traditions, and values.
elevated apxOx Joao is now reunited with the love of his life, his wife Maria. Their relationship – an anomaly of their generation – was a beautiful example of romance and passion. Joao’s unwavering love and commitment never faltered, as he cared for her with tenderness and devotion throughout her lengthy illness, remaining inseparable until Maria’s last breath.
elevated apxOx He leaves behind his two beloved sons, Jose (Sara) and Joao (Erma), and is forever cherished by his grandchildren: Erica (Nick), John Carlo, Emiliano, Jonathan, Christopher, and Daniel. He was overjoyed by the presence of his great-granddaughter Isla and his grand puppy Stella. Joao is survived by his brothers, Daniel (Maria) and Jorge (Adelina), as well as his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He is also reunited with his parents, Carlos and Maria, his sisters, Bella and Julia (Frank), and his brother Gonsalves (Celeste), among many others who have undoubtedly welcomed him into paradise with warm reception and of course, a celebratory drink.
elevated apxOx Joao was a kind, caring, and generous man who stood strong behind his beliefs and values. He lived a simple life, greeted each day with a smile, and found immense joy in the company of his loved ones. He took great pleasure in watching his cherished Benfica soccer team, enjoying classic films, following his daily Portuguese soap opera, staying informed with the news, and, of course, playing the lottery each day. Even in his final days, after a fall in January, Joao’s kindness and strength continued to shine. Just the day before he passed, his nurse shared that even though he could no longer speak, Joao still found ways to express his gratitude by kissing the hands of his caretakers, offering them his most heartfelt smile.
elevated apxOx His memory will live on in the hearts of all that had the honour to know him. The family wishes to thank everyone for their love, prayers and support during this difficult time.
elevated apxOx Rest in peace Joao. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
