It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Chai in Toronto at the age of 93. He was born to Lin & Peter (Lorna) Chai. John is survived by his beloved wife Fatima (nee Lee) of 64 wonderful years. Loving father to Noel (Judi), Mike (Lillian), and Leon (Gigi). Adored grandfather to Jonathan, Courtney, Grace, Zoe, Alexis and Callen. Brother to Derek and Dexter (Elaine). John will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his extended family.
Words of sympathy feel inadequate in expressing grief and sorrow for so great a loss in John. From the time I was little, I remember John as a kind, caring “big brother” with a warm smile always on his face. As a kid in the 1960s in Arima, Trinidad, John regularly dropped by our grocery shop/home on his way back to his own grocery about 10 miles away in Valencia.
Sending a warm embrace and all my love during this sad time. I have so many fond memories of John. Rest in peace.
Peter Chai-Seong
My condolences to Aunty Fatima and the Chai family.
Uncle John, you will be missed. Thank you for your kindness and friendship. My father is sad that his very dear and good friend have passed on. We will keep the fond and happy memories of you in our hearts.
Rest in peace Uncle.
