elevated It6YR Obituary
It is with incredible sadness that we announce the passing of John Steve Kovacs, 65 years old. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eva; his daughter, Mandy; his younger sister Sue and brother in law John, and his sister and brother in law, Cathy and Tom. John was a wonderful, loving, and attentive father and husband, and a dedicated but long-suffering Leafs fan. His goofy sense of humour will be missed immensely by everyone who knew him. He built a successful career in IT and was beloved by colleagues. John found a passion for travel early in his life, backpacking across Europe on his own for months in his 20’s, before finding a lifelong traveling partner in his wife, Eva. He also loved playing baseball, and took great pride in striking out kids half his age and ‘running like a gazelle’ around the bases. Words truly can’t capture how much he will be missed. We hope he has found peace in being reunited with his parents in heaven.
elevated It6YR A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5 from 6-8 PM at the Holy Cross Funeral Home, (211 Langstaff Rd E, Thornhill). A funeral mass will be held inside the Chapel of St. Joseph in Holy Cross Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6 at 12 noon. If you’d like to make a donation in his name, please direct your contributions to the Heart and Stroke foundation.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our good friend, John Kovacs.
He will be remembered as a kind, family-oriented man who enjoyed life and all it had to offer.
We were fortunate to have shared many trips with him and his family to places in Canada, the US and Bermuda. We will miss his banter about Toronto sports teams, especially his beloved Maple Leafs and our Saturday suppers with friends.
Thank you for being a friend. Rest well.
Much love,
The Burnetts
Always smiling. Always welcoming. I’m so fortunate to have known you all these years. Will always be remembered. Rest in Peace my friend. You are missed already.
Shocked and saddened following the loss of my Uncle John.
The nicest, most cheerful and goofy Uncle a nephew could ask for. Family gatherings won’t be the same without him around to air out our frustrations with Toronto sports teams.
Rest well, you will be greatly missed!
Our deepest condolences to the family for this devastating loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Our deepest condolences Eva and Mandy. Find comfort in the wonderful memories of a beautiful man.
Deepest condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Eva & Mandy, I was so saddened to hear this news this afternoon. Praying that you both will be strengthened in the days to come.
Lovely memories of when the three of you visited us in N. Ireland a few years ago.
Love Carol

John was a loving husband and father. His family was the most important thing in his life. We loved him as our brother-in-law and “Fun Uncle” to his three nephews.
Holidays & 51 card games will never be the same without you.
Miss you always!!
My condolences to the Kovacs family. John was great to work with and will be deeply missed.
Sue, thinking of you during this most difficult time. May the Lord provide you comfort & peace as you grieve over the loss of your big brother.
Shocked and saddened of the passing of John. John was an amazing person and uncle. He always had a smile on his face and jokes that lit up the whole room. Can’t imagine family get togethers and games of 51 without him there. He’ll be deeply missed.
Rest easy John.
Eva I am so saddened. John and I have been friends since grade 8. We had many fun times together. First ever blue Jay’s game. Pink Floyd in Montreal trip. Sabres vs the Russians in Buffalo. Key west the night Trump got in. I will miss him greatly. A fine man and a great friend. My sincere condolences to your family
Eva and Mandy I am so sad to hear about John. He was such a nice guy, and definitely my favourite of all my brother Bruno’s friends. I am thinking about you during this devastating time. God bless you all.
We were so sad to hear of John’s passing. As his neighbour for almost 18 years I can say anytime we met it was a pleasant interaction and involved a lot of bemoaning the beloved Leafs trials and tribulations. Our sincerest condolences to Eva , Mandy and his entire family. May his blessed memory serve to bring you comfort. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Eva

Eva and Mandy,
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Johns sudden passing.
Sending my sincere condolences to you and the family.
Eva and Mandy, I am so sadden to hear of John’s passing. He was such a good guy. I remember him coming to the house often to see his good friend Bruno (my brother). We all liked John in the family and he was always welcomed in our home as kids…even my mom and dad liked John very much (and mom was very picky on who can be her kids friends). My deepest condolences to you both Eva and Mandy and to all of John’s family and friends…Hugs, Dina
