Riposa in pace
I bought my first Mazda from Joe in the ’80s. He was a warm and friendly man!! My condolences to the family.
I was heart broken, devastated and cried when I heard about Joe’s sudden death on Nov. 18th. We met back in the early 1960’s when my brother Michael Hill used to hang out with both Joe’s at their shop when they sold sports cars at Laird and McCrae Dr. in Leaside. We became instant friends Once they started to sell Mazda’s it was a no brainer to buy my cars from Gyro Mazda. Just bought my 20 Mazda this past year. My wonderful memories and great stories of both Joe’s will live in my heart forever.
Joe leaves a wonderful legacy for us all. Love & hugs, Patricia (Hill) Humphrey xxx
My condolences to all the family. Joe symbolized a work ethic that continues to inspire and delight those he served — a blue coloured lighthouse with a soft white light casting a welcoming beacon on the shores of Laird and Markham. My father Paul Kovac told me (more than once) of how Joe and he began to work together from humble beginnings and spoke highly of him as a fellow partner and friend. You will be missed Joe. RIP.
Sending my condolences to the Kmet family. Joe is my neighbor who my parents have known for 25 years. We are very saddened to hear the news. Joe was such a hardworking man, whenever I saw him he’s either cleaning up his front lawn or gardening in his backyard. Over the years I got to know how intelligent and hard working he is. We exchanged tomatoes in the summer from our gardens and he would always give me advice on life. Rest in Peace❤️🕊
Worked at KOVAC MOTORS in the 1960s. Joe was a dedicated worker and a good example for me who worked in the Parts Dept. All good memories of him. I remember he bought a new Olds convertible and shipped it to Europe for a holiday.
My condolences to his family. Rest in peace Joe.
Please accept my sincerest condolences. Joe was a fine man and kind to me personally. To his family I offer my deepest prayers
My sincerest condolences for your loss. Joe was a great man. Hope you find comfort in the memories.

40 years ago I bought my first Mazda car. I have been a loyal client of Gyro Mazda ever since, significantly due to the friendly, attentive presence of Joe Kmet. Always cheerful, he had time for any of my needs regardless of personal pressures. I have missed him a lot since his retirement but with every visit I still feel the mark he made on his successors and on Gyro Mazda. I offer condolences to Joe’s family at this time of great loss.
My condolences to the entire family. May his memory be a blessing to you and to all of us who knew him .
I am just one of thousands of customers who will remember Joe as the essence of humanity in responding generously to patrons of Gyro. I happened to visit the new premises on Laird Avenue two days ago and I enquired after Joe at the reception. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of which he has so many.
Paul and family, we are so so sorry to hear of Joe’s sudden passing.
We bought our first car (a GLC) from Joe in 1981, brought our first born home in a new MPV, and went on to live life in 5 more Mazdas from Joe (and then Paul). It was Joe’s great personality, solid advice and genuine fairness that kept us coming back to Gyro Mazda.
Our hearts go out to you all, we will miss him.
I bought my first Gyro Mazda car from Joe in the mid 80’s. Great guy. Always looked after me and with a smile. He was the rock behind the dealership. He will be really missed
My deepest condolences to the Joe’s Family.

Paul,
Taylor and I would like to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Dad. I remember him in the dealership when I would come in to dream about a new car. Always a gentleman.
I first met Joe in 1983, the year we purchased our first Mazda. It was partly Joe’s cheerful, knowledgeable and trustworthy integrity that impressed at the time, something we believe has been handed on to Mazda employees ever since. We are still clients of Gyro Mazda.
Trish,
We were so very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Although I never met him, I always enjoyed hearing your stories about him. Our sincere condolences to you, Phil, Carson, and your family. May your lifetime of wonderful memories sustain you all in this difficult time.

To all the kmet family:
It was with much sadness that I learned of Joes passing as yet another of the “old garage” has quietly slipped away. I remeber fondly of those early garage days of joe always giving me a great smile and a hugh whenever we met. When we chatted we often talked about the past, grandchildren and life in general. Rest in peace Joe.

Dear Paul, Patricia, Sandra and family
I was in shock when I heard about your dad yesterday. It brought back so many memories. I bought my first Mazda, and Rx7 in 1979 and developed an amazing relationship with Joe. He was the main reason I continued to buy or lease Mazdas. He was such a personable and honest hard working man whose integrity was obvious. He cared deeply and was very proud of his family and of Gyro and his clients. I know he had tremendous passion for his work at Gyro and that’s why he still carried on after retiring as the head of service. He passed away while doing what he loved. A true gentleman with a warm smile who always made time to chat with me even when he was busy. I will miss him dearly. My condolences to all of you for your huge loss.
Paul, our deepest condolences to you and your family at this very sad time. Working with Joe over the years was a pleasure, his kindness, his hard working ethic and his willingness to help were only a few of his many great attributes. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family at this time.
Dear Silva, Paul, Patricia and Sandra.
My and my mother Marija (Ljubca) deepest condolences. I was shocked to find out Joe had passed. He will be greatly missed by both of us. As you know, I worked for Joe in the service department (1970) as teenager. He taught me to work hard and be organized which later in life helped me in my own business. I will always thank him for it. He will now be in heaven with my uncle Joe K. who I too miss dearly! Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Tom & Marija Cadez
Paul, I was saddened to hear of your dad’s sudden passing. He was such a kind man and will be missed by so many. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
The kindness and true Gentleman I have ever met. I will never forget you.
Our condolences and good wishes to the family! We met Joe at the dealership some decades ago, and we ended up getting about 7 cars along the way! I was always looking for Joe as he was attentive, very pleasant: he was the soul of Gyro!
Our hearts are broken. Pino filled the room with sunshine when he smiled. You couldn’t help but see the bright light that he was. He was kind, passionate, generous and respectful. He loved his family and his work and he made time for his friends. He was well respected in his field. I recently read a wonderful quote that reminded me of him. He did not only know people, he understood people and that made him truly memorable. My last memory is watching him dance with Silvana at the Istrian picnic. A beautiful moment to keep in our hearts. He will truly be missed. Sending our sincerest condolences to all of you.
Trish, Phil & Carson,
Sending our deepest condolences to you all at this very difficult time.
Love Louise, Ian & the Overs family xo
My condolences to all that knew this wonderful spirit. Unfortunately, Joe’s time was a bit short. Yet he left a powerful impact on many and paved the way for years to come. Thank you for all you have done Mr. Joe Kmet. May all whose heart he has touched find healing and continuous love during this unexpected event.
Met Joe almost 15 years ago. One fine gentleman. Please accept my sincere condolences
