elevated C14Pv JOSEPH LOUIS VAN REMORTEL passed away peacefully on January 7, 2023, at the age of 83. Joe is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate of 44 years, Rose (née Cancilla). Also survived by siblings: Henk Van Remortel, Fay Van Kempen, Emmy Bodnar and Jacob Van Remortel; deceased siblings Jenny Bauwens, Core Van Remortel, Ria Klein, and Jean Louis Van Remortel.
elevated C14Pv Joe was born November 19, 1939, in Hulst, Netherlands, to Emmy and Joseph Van Remortel De Plukker. He loved his life, family and friends with devotion. But his greatest joy was being married to his true love, Rose. Joe was a gentleman and a gentle man with a great sense of humour. He was truly unique and had a full, well-lived life. His contagious laugh and indomitable spirit will live on. Visitation on Thursday, January 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, with memorial service to take place Friday, January 13, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a reception. Donations in memory of Joe to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca) are appreciated.
