Josi, Derrick and I are so sad that that we will never see your smile, hear your laughter just hang out with one of our favorite people and laugh so hard with you when you try to imitate Derrick’s deep southern accent. Your friendship was precious to us and although God has called you to His Eternal Home we will see each other again someday my friend. Dear family and friends,
Josi – so full of life; she had this incredible distinguished giggle that just put a smile on your face – INSTANTLY! She was our mentor. She taught us, laughed with us, supported us, provided us with music and working in the room with her was always a better day because of her presence. Always smiling! Josi created and had connections with everyone. Here we sit with her presence gone and all the feelings that come up when walking by her room or looking at her locker.
There is absolutely no way to justify why this happened and the sequence of events that took place. We are all trying to make sense of it all.
As we sit and ponder our own lives and values in this experience called life. Know that you are not alone. The strong pangs of emotions related to the lost relationship and powerful yearnings that she was still present with us are such a roller coaster. You are not going crazy this is all a natural part of grief. Responses such as fatigue, forgetfulness and irritability all result from your attention and energy being directed toward your grief and adjustment to loss. Take comfort in knowing that death itself is not painful. Our bodies know exactly what to do and the process that needs to take place. Today is her funeral and we can all find some closure.
The death of our beloved Josi has impacted everyone. I am with you and know that we will get through this sorrow and sadness together. Be gentle with yourselves and take the time you need as there is no right or wrong way to grieve. I invite you to take pen to paper and let the words flow through you. It’s therapeutic and creates a space for our subconscious minds to unravel. To say exactly how you feel; to ask the unanswerable questions and tell the untold stories.
