elevated zsu1C Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Julia, in her 90th year.

Born on April 22, 1935, to Nicola and Jennie Ruscetta, Julie grew up on Markham Street in Toronto, where she shared many joyful memories with her brothers, the late Michael (Irene) and Joseph (Rosemarie). In 1962, she married her devoted husband, Tonny deHaas, who predeceased her.

Julie was a remarkable and unforgettable presence. Her unwavering commitment to keeping her family close, her passion for staying informed on current events, and her extraordinary example as a business leader while managing a bustling household with growing boys were qualities admired by all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her sons, Paul and Lorne, and her daughters-in-law, Norma and Christine.

“Nonno’s” passing leaves a void but also a lasting legacy for her five cherished grandchildren: Luke, Nicholas, Sarah, Matthew, and Jamie.

Aunty Julie, as she was affectionately known, will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her nieces Carla, Michelle (d.Frank), Patty (Tom); and her nephew Michael (Mary-Lea).

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Holy Cross Funeral Home, located at 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill on Tuesday, January 7, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Mass will be held on Wednesday, January 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Funeral Home, followed by a graveside internment in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Immediately following the interment a reception will be held.

Donations in Julie’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
