elevated wWKoE Obituary
elevated wWKoE Leo was married to his loving wife Doreen just a few months shy of 70 years, They shared many milestones starting with raising their family in Chateauguay, Quebec with son Neil (Diane), Karen (Ed), and Darlene (Brian).
elevated wWKoE Most years were spent in arenas, traveling from town to town with all three of his children. If it wasn’t hockey, it was figure skating, both Doreen and Leo were very dedicated supportive parents as they took on many roles such as #1 fans and chauffeurs. In the 1980’s Leo who was in his 50’s picked up the sport of running. He was seen running the streets of Chateauguay and made his family proud by entering and completing 6 marathons.
elevated wWKoE Eventually, the kids flew the coop and both Doreen and Leo found themselves alone in Chateauguay while their children had moved to Ontario and California. Retirement came along and they decided to pick up and move to Ontario alongside two of their children and 3 grandchildren. The first move was to Bowmanville, Ont. Then they made their final move to Mississauga, ON. a few years later. Over the years Leo was surrounded by 4 grandkids, Krystie (Eric), Brad (Natasha), Chad (Kerri), and Nicholas.
elevated wWKoE Leo, once again found himself spending many hours chauffeuring, encouraging, and supporting the boys in various towns and arenas. Many memorable winter months were spent in California soaking in the sun and loving every moment spent with Karen, Ed, and his loving grandson Nicholas. Of course, even in California Leo was making friends at the local shopping mall.
elevated wWKoE In 2011 he became a proud Great-Grandfather (“GRAND-PEPPI”) and by 2022 he had a total of 9 Great-Grandkids. This resulted in the extension of his arena life. To his delight, many impressed their great-grandfather as they glided along the ice, falling and picking themselves up, making passes, and scoring goals. Brody, Jake, Kennedy, Jaxon, Julia, Cole, Jazmine, Reign, and Dylan have been blessed with having “Grand-Peppi” fill their hearts with love, snuggles, and pockets overflowing with Jelly Beans and Jujubes. Rest in Peace Leo, Dad, Peppi, Poppi, Grand-Peppi. We Love You So Much.

Auntie Doreen, Neil, Diane, Karen, Ed, Darlene, Brian, and the rest of the family, my condolences. Our loved ones will always be missed, but never forgotten. They remain in our hearts and thoughts forever. Sending all of you peace, comfort, and strength during this very difficult time. Love Melinda
So many great memories of Leo from Northern Circle. “Home base” for Hide and Seek was their big tree. I loved when he took up running – it was so fun to watch him head out for his runs. It was also cool to watch him at Dolphin pool, lying in the water with his legs up on the side, doing sit-ups. He was a character. All of the parents and the kids of the circle loved Leo and missed him when he moved. To me he will always remain a childhood memory. RIP
I share your pain, your loss and your grief. Your father was always great to have around. He will be forever missed and remembered.
Neil and Diane and the Clan,
My Heart was heavy when I heard about Leo’s passing. It brought back so many memories of Glen Erin drive, and chatting with Leo at Meadowvale Town Centre (when he’d hang out with his buddies). Maybe we will cross paths again some day.
💗
Our most sincere condolences to Doreen and the entire family.
Leo was a kind and loving family man who was loved by all who had the pleasure to meet him.
Doreen and Leo together raised a wonderful large family. Leo’s legacy will live on in their children, grandkids and great grandkids.
Sincerely
Henry and Kathy gallant
Such great memories of Leo and the entire Painchaud family. Many a day spent around Northern Circle and Dolphin pool . Our sincerest condolences. May he rest in peace.
My heartfelt condolences to the Painchaud family and Doreen. During my 45 year skating friendship with Leo‘s daughter, Karen, I was able to meet, and enjoy getting to know Leo on his many visits to California while he did odd jobs around the rink where Karen and I taught. He was a hoot to say the least! Every day he would greet the coaches and skaters with a friendly smile and wave. My husband and I had the pleasure of Leo staying with us on one of those visits as well. He was genuine, kind, had a wonderful sense of humor and was exceptionally comfortable to be around. It is always so hard to say goodbye but we are comforted, knowing he has found his peace. Sending love and healing thoughts, Wendy
He always had a smile for me and a minute to talk when I’d run into him. I wish I’d known him better
