elevated MUab2 Obituary
elevated MUab2 It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Malka Kastelic on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at the age of 94. She died peacefully in her sleep, in her own home.
elevated MUab2 Malka was the beloved wife of the late Joe Kastelic II. Cherished mother of Joe III (Sharyn), Ed (Monica), Donna (Glenn Hoag) and Mark. Devoted and caring grandmother to Chris (Cansu) and Nick Hoag, and Daniel, Megan and Matthew Kastelic. Proud great-grandmother of 14 month old James (Chris and Cansu).
elevated MUab2 Malka had a wonderful sense of humor and was generous to a fault. Over the years, she got to know everyone in her neighbourhood during her frequent walks and shared her baking skills with many. She will be missed and fondly remembered by all of them.
elevated MUab2 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dom Lipa Retirement Home. https://www.domlipa.ca/

A wonderful neighbour! I knew her over 50 years and I loved to see her on her walker passing my house every day for years! I am so glad she died peacefully!
Mrs. Kastelic was one of the premier neighborhood Moms on Cedarbank who watched over us kids as we grew up.
After leaving Don Mills I looked forward to seeing her on her bike, when I would visit my parents and we would always have a pleasant chat.
There was never any pretense. She was a genuine straight forward, calls it as she sees it lady. I admired that.
She will be missed.
To our wonderful neighbour, friend, dog lover and cookie giver (Leo, SIT, DOWN, WAIT!), banana muffin maker, tomato grower and all around wonderful person. We will miss you dearly.
With much love, Nicole and Jean-Paul
I am so saddened to hear of Malka’s passing. She was an absolute gem, delightful and funny right to the end. A strong, unique and a lovely woman, an inspiration to everyone she met. I will truly miss having Malka as a neighbour. And so will my dog. She had a long and beautiful life. May she test in peace. Love Grace, Pete, Nicole and Alik ( & Coco & Gigi).
The highlight of my early mornings was when kylo would see Malka. We all loved to see her as the inspiration of how to live an intentional life. She always liked to guess what my day would be like based in my choice of clothes. If I had shorts on she thought I wasn’t working. But if I had dress pants and a shirt
Malka would ask if I had a big meeting. She cared about us all. I will miss her as will the entire neighborhood.
Malka was a woman with determination and a dedication to a life well lived. Not in trappings of wealth but with the genuine love of life, her family, friends and her beloved Cedarbank Crescent community.
She will be missed by so many. Rest in peace Malka.
We have enjoyed knowing Malka over the many years we have lived in the neighbourhood. Her feisty spirit was evident in everything she did. We were always glad to enjoy her wonderful baking, especially her exceptional Orehovi Kifeljčki (walnut crescent cookies) at Christmastime. And she kindly shared bounty from her garden by bringing fresh tomatoes and lettuce, lovingly tended in her backyard. At Easter she enjoyed harvesting pussy willow from our backyard to use to create the traditional Slovenian butarica velika noč. Our condolences to her family. May she rest in peace. Carolynne & Anton
Joe and Molka that’s how we knew her. Just wonderful and kind hearted neighbours can never forget. May her soul rest in eternal peace. Ameen

So very sorry to hear about Malka’s passing. She would phone regularly and we’d have a nice chat about all sorts of things especially about what we were cooking. She was a lovely lady who will be dearly missed. Our deepest condolences to all the family from the Slak Family in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Our deepest condolences to Donna, Joe and the entire family We didn’t have a chance to meet Malka in person but we’re lucky to get to know her daughter.
Malka embraced each day of her life with passion. We often would see and chat with Malka when she was riding her bicycle or walking throughout the neighborhood. She did not miss a day to go outside and she embraced all weather conditions. Malka loved gardening and appreciated all the beauty of nature that surrounded her. Malka was inspiration to all, to live life to the fullest.
Rest in peace Malka,
John and Elaine Maclagan
