elevated 6sz9K Obituary
elevated 6sz9K Margaret Mary Campion, fondly known by friends and family as “Marge”, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, at the age of 95 years.
elevated 6sz9K Marge was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Margaret (nee Seddon) Campion, and her two brothers, Donald Joseph and Desmond Aloysius. She is survived and deeply missed by her niece Angela (Ray), nephews Grahame and Martin, goddaughter Margaret, cousins/distant relations Jill and Bernadette, and dearest friends Josie, Barbara, Dianne and Bob, John, Janet, Elvie, Tina and son Martin, Ana and Matt, and Charlotte and Richard.
elevated 6sz9K Marge lived a full and active life, very much on her own terms. She was born and raised in Liverpool, UK; and, as a young adult, she immigrated to Canada in1956. Marge resided for a time in Montreal enjoying her new life working in the theatre arts. In 1977, Marge moved to Toronto where she remained, receiving her Canadian Citizenship in 1980. For many years, Marge was a loyal and dedicated employee at Baxter Publishing in Toronto until her retirement in 1992. Marge loved her job. She also enjoyed live theatre, reading, needle crafts and collecting fine art; and derived great satisfaction from traveling and entertaining friends and family near and far. Throughout her life, Marge remained a devoted member of her Catholic Parish and served as a longstanding volunteer at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Hospital. But most of all, Marge loved cats and all things finicky and feline. Marge shall always be remembered and cherished for the loving care she generously gave to the many abandoned and abused cats she rescued, fostered and adored.
elevated 6sz9K Special appreciation and gratitude go to Elaine, Leeann, Amina, Dr. Bonsal, and the medical and healthcare teams at Sunnybrook Health Science Centre Hospital and Sunnybrook’s Holland Orthopaedic and Arthritic Centre and St. John’s Rehab for their exceptional care, kindness and patience. As expressions of sympathy, donations may made on Marge’s behalf to these facilities and to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada at 6981 Con. 4, Puslinch, Ontario N0B 2J0, Website: thedonkeysanctuary.ca, and, the Toronto Humane Society, 11 River Street, Toronto, Ontario M5A 4C2, Website: torontohumanesociety.com.
Fond memorys of Marge when she used to visit Madge Hawe (nee Campion) on her visits to the UK.
They would love to talk about the family and always laughed a lot.
Special thoughts too when I went on holiday to Polperro in Cornwall. with Marge. We did enjoy our stay and I can remember one of her collections was for obtaining small jugs!

Fond memories of Cousin Marge, when the last time she came to England to visit my mother Madge (her first cousin) how full of vigour and wonder to embrace her English roots and to meet us all was. I remember distinctly her unusual Canadian /Liverpuddlian accent and how the latter had after all the years not dimmed. My mother was very fond of her and told us family life of her and her brothers.
I remember too her collection of small jugs she took back home, as she remarked she had a collection!
May she who after a full and interesting life rest in peace. God bless her.
God rest your soul Auntie Marge. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I’m sending mine and my families love and prayers RIP 🙏
I’m the eldest nice and am Don & Pats daughter

I met Marge on an escorted tour of Spain and Portugal in 1969. It was a tour designed for “singles” sponsored by Bachelor Part Tours. Neither Marge nor I ended up with an eligible bachelor, but she and I connected and became fast friends. I came from Columbus, Ohio and Marge came from Montreal. I visited her in Montreal and in later years, several times in her charming apartment in Toronto. One time a friend and I from Columbus drove to Windsor, took at train to Toronto and then went to the theatre to see Phantom of the Opera and Marge joined us. Marge made several trips, by air, to Columbus. In fact, she celebrated her 80th BD in Ohio.I remember well that she spent a Christmas Eve and Christmas in Columbus. I met several of her feline friends whose names I have forgotten. Marge introduced me to Chip Nuts. Every once in a while , a parcel of them would appear in my mailbox.
She had a great sense of humor and wit. Very articulate. Had a mind of her own which I admire. I will miss her. Am sure she was met at the Rainbow. Bridge by all of her lovable rescued felines.. RIP dear friend.
First, my sincerest sympathy to the Campion and extended family. A special nod to Angela and Ray who I met when they visited.
I met Marge in the late 60# in Montreal at a cooking class and our friendship grew. When Marge moved to Toronto, we kept in touch and upon my move to Toronto, we managed many outings as Marge like to rent car and visit the Kitchener/Waterloo area. Also upon discovering Tequila, we spent many a weekend sampling Margaritas in our apartments. I will cherish my very fond memories of Marge and hope she is now reunited with her parents and brothers. “May flights of angels sing they to they rest”.
I knew Marge as my neighbour across the hall at Chatsworth Manor for the past 25 years. I recall that my first impression was one of a formidable English woman, but I later came to know her as kind and generous and wonderfully down to earth. I also came to know her as a gracious hostess and shall miss our casual chats over a glass of wine when she would share her stories of her life in Liverpool during WWII, how she came to Canada, and her life in Montreal. I also came to know the strength of her sense of fairness and determination during our fight to save the building from demolition and redevelopment. She was a unique character, very much of her generation and I shall miss her.
I will so miss our lively conversations (from politics to travel). Marge was a dear friend. Our weekly lunches were what I looked forward to. I loved hearing about her growing up during the war.
I have only just seen this message service so better late than ever . you’re so sadly missed Auntie marg . We had a lovely relationship, more like a mum and daughter . There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t think of you …I loved you so much, I always did from a very early age . I have all the family photos you sent me . I sent them to the family members as you hoped I would . The rest are treasured in a family album . Thank you for trusting them with me . Rest well my lovely Auntie …we will meet again . Xx
