elevated waOol Obituary
elevated waOol It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our beloved mother Marguerite Di Giacomo who passed away on Friday March 8th, 2024 in her 71st year, at Vaughan Hospice, after a long battle with ALS.
elevated waOol Marguerite was born on February 9th, 1953 to her loving parents Louis and Linda Khalil in Cairo, Egypt. After immigrating to Canada in 1968 with her family, Marguerite began her academic career at Georges Vanier Secondary School. She graduated in 1971 and then went on to study Arts at York University.
elevated waOol In 1974, Marguerite graduated from York University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Language. A year later, she returned to York, and obtained her teaching certification. Marguerite went on to become a French school teacher for a few short years, before landing a career in the financial industry. Marguerite began her banking career as a teller at TD Bank, which eventually kickstarted a 35+ year career in Corporate Banking. Marguerite’s drive, determination, passion and intelligence, quickly propelled her up the corporate ladder. Marguerite had the rare ability to connect on a personal level with anyone and everyone she interacted with. She had a charisma and presence like no other, making her highly admired and appreciated. Marguerite was undoubtedly very well known and respected by everyone she encountered in her professional career and lifetime.
elevated waOol In high school, Marguerite met the love of her life, Vincenzo Di Giacomo. After Vincenzo chased her for many years, she finally decided to give him a chance. It was love at ‘first date’ and Marguerite and Vincenzo went on to get married a few years later on October 7th 1976. From there, they went on to have three wonderful and loving children.
elevated waOol Marguerite was a strong, vibrant and independent woman. She had an incredible zest for life, evidenced by her passion for travel, dancing, and of course, spending time with family and friends. Marguerite had a deep love for Latin music and was an avid Bachata and Salsa dancer. She was fluent in six languages: English, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic and German, which served to assist her very much in her many travels. In her lifetime, Marguerite managed to visit many places throughout the world. She was a fun-loving soul, who had a deep desire for exploration and adventure. Marguerite also had a great passion and love for her family and friends. Marguerite thoroughly enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends, and always made a point of ensuring that she taught her children the importance of family traditions.
elevated waOol Marguerite was predeceased by her loving parents Linda and Louis Khalil, and husband Vincenzo Di Giacomo. She is survived by her children Gregory Di Giacomo (Melissa), Nicole Ioannidis (Thomas), Alexander Di Giacomo (Lulu) and her beloved grandchildren Daniel, Olivia, Vincent and Zoe; her siblings Mary Girgis (Ramsis), Marilyn Kamel (Kamel) and Maged Khalil (Ghada).
elevated waOol Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Rd. E., Thornhill, ON, on Monday March 18th, 2024 from 1-4pm and 5-8pm. Ceremony will be held at St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church, located at 41 Glendinning Avenue, Scarborough ON, on Tuesday March 19th, 2024 12:00pm.
