elevated 4hdBq Maria passed away peacefully on Sunday August 13th, 2023 at the age of 97.  She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Werner, mother to Linda (Ralph) and grandmother to Stephanie (David) and Marc.

elevated 4hdBq Maria was born on March 7, 1926 in a small town in Yugoslavia called Rudolfsgnad.  She was the only child of Anton and Magdalena Weber.  As a child she enjoyed swimming, biking, and going to school.  During World War II her family was taken from their home in the middle of the night.  Her father was sent to Russia while her mother and her were put in a concentration camp.  After 3 years in the concentration camp, they escaped and made their way to Canada.  After being separated for 5 years they were reunited with Anton.

elevated 4hdBq Maria married Jacob in 1956 in Kitchener.  The couple moved to Toronto where they began their life together.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

elevated 4hdBq A private family service will be held.  If so desired, donations in memory of Maria may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto.
