Mary Elizabeth Guest, a beloved mother, Amma, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, in Ottawa, Ontario, at the age of 60. Born on April 21, 1964, Mary lived a life filled with love, dedication, and a deep appreciation for her family and the natural world.

elevated Vo915 Mary was the cherished daughter of Gerald and Marilyn Guest, and grew up in a loving home with her three siblings, Gregory, Susan (Craig), and Paul. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Education and pursued a fulfilling career as an inspirational teacher, touching the lives of countless students with her wisdom, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning.

elevated Vo915 Mary was the loving mother to Iain (Courtney) and Marilyn (John Patrick), whom she adored and nurtured with all her heart. She was also a devoted Amma to her grandchildren, Owen and Indy, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Mary shared a wonderful partnership with Peter MacLeod, who stood by her side with unwavering support and love, and is now reunited with her husband, Kevin Hill (1996).

elevated Vo915 Mary had a passion for reading, hiking, and traveling, and was an avid naturalist. She could often be found spending her free time exploring the great outdoors, Elvis the dog at her side. Her deep connection with nature was evident in everything she did, from her teaching to her hobbies. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and generous heart touched the lives of everyone she met, leaving a lasting impact on all who met her.

elevated Vo915 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Neuroendocrine Tumour Society or the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation in Mary’s honour.

elevated Vo915 Mary Elizabeth Guest leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and inspiration. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, students, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be lovingly remembered and never forgotten.
