It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Eraldo on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the age of 88. Surrounded by his beloved wife Luisa and loving children Domenic (Patrizia) and Francesca (Giuseppe). He will be missed by his adoring grandchildren Eraldo, Fausto,Piero, Fiore, Robert, Daniel, and Adriano. He is survived by his sister Teresa and brother Fausto. He is pre-deceased by brother Geppino. He will be fondly remembered by his family and friends in Canada and Italy. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto would be appreciated.

Eraldo was a great man. The closest man to me, next to my dear father. I have many fond memories of him.
He took me to Italy. Je took me to New York. He’s was a very giving man…but most of all, he made me laugh!
He will be truly missed.

We will miss my cousin Eraldo dearly. Part of the old group with my dad and other uncles, aunts and cousins, he told many funny stories. He was my “compare” as he was my sponsor at my confirmation and was always available for a chat. He was always interested in our well- being especially asking about John, my departed brother. After retirement, we spent many days with Eraldo and his family in his backyard and also at ”the Manghe” just outside Malito in Calabria.
Say hi to the gang in heaven Eraldo. Rest in peace.

Eraldo will always be remembered with love. He and his family have been a part of our lives since we were young. He and my father were good friends and my mother and his mother were sisters. I will miss his smile and his sense of humor. My condolences go out to Luisa,Domenico and his family and Francesca and her family. Death cannot be stopped but it can not take all the memories we have shared. You will be very much missed. Rest in peace. 🙏♥️

I knew Eraldo and Zia Louisa when they lived on Dufferin. He was a cheerful man, always had a smile and was ready to joke around with you Rest with God, Eraldo

Ricordo da bambino quel ragazzo di nome Eraldo, figlio dei nostri secondi genitori , la nostra grande zia Franceschina e il nostro unico zio Domenico. Legatissimo ai miei genitori. Bello, simpatico ,affettuoso , avvenente. Lo ricordo su un motorino di marca Mondial sempre pronto per andare ad Altilia dalla sua amata fidanzata con la quale ha condiviso tutta la sua esistenza.
Poi venne il giorno della partenza in Canada . Un cambio di vita che gli fece amare Ancor di più la sua terra natia .
Tanti sacrifici , tanto lavoro per tanti anni : il frutto le Manche , le sue amate Manche di cui ne aveva smisurato orgoglio.
Poi la famiglia , unico suo grande bene.
Infiniti viaggi a Malito dove cambiava il suo respiro .
La prima visita era qui a Petrara.
Un abbraccio alla zia Wanda e allo zio Pasquale sempre accompagnato da profonda commozione .
Veniva di sorpresa e zitto zitto si presentava . Ricordo come se fosse ora l’espressione di sorpresa e meraviglia di mamma : ” oih…Eraaaldooo ….” .
Ci raccontava tante storie e ci distribuiva delle squisite caramelle gommose.
Ogni venuta era una festa .
Da un po’ di anni purtroppo gli impegni di lavoro non mi consentivano di stare con lui per tanto tempo quando veniva in Italia.
L’estate scorsa ho saputo della sua venuta , nonostante il suo compromesso stato di salute. Sono andato a salutarlo e l’ho trovato molto diverso dalle altre volte .
Non ho resistito ad un cedimento di commozione .
È stato l’ultimo saluto .
Ciao Eraldo ci hai voluto bene e noi ricambiamo con un affettuoso ricordo .

I will always remember Eraldo as a smiling, warm presence who loved his family and greeted everyone with a big hug. I have very fond memories of visiting him and Luisa on Dufferin Street throughout my childhood. My regrets that I won’t be able to attend the visitation or funeral services, but I am thinking of you all with love and will keep his memory in my heart.

Dearest Amendola family. Jim and I were so saddened by the news of Eraldos passing. He was a very good man and our memories will be forever good ones. My only regrets are that I didn’t get to see him before he passed. I have my wonderful memories with him to give me solace. I remember so many good things and he was always at the forefront planning fun things for his family and relatives. What I will remember most about him is his love of family and friends and his generosity to all he came in contact with. He was my god father and I felt special because he was always so good to me and my family. He leaves a wonderful legacy of generosity of spirit and family ties. I’m thinking also of his amazing family and how much they loved family as he did. Luisa I send you my condolences and love always as you and Eraldo were a symbol of what Family is.
