elevated wp3mH Obituary
elevated wp3mH It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of Patricia Jennifer Samson (nee Pocock). After a heroically fought battle with an incurable cancer, Patsy passed away peacefully on December 31, 2022, with her loving husband of 47 years, Gerry, by her side.
elevated wp3mH Patsy loved cottaging. Every year, before moving from Toronto to Lake Simcoe in 2020, Patsy would spend hours researching and vetting the most beautiful spots in Ontario. Once she found the perfect spot, she and Gerry would spend their summers sipping chardonnay (and Canadians) on the dock, watching their children, and later their grandchildren, swim, and enjoy sunsets together.
elevated wp3mH She loved a good game of euchre, yahtzee and cribbage, was an avid reader, hand crafted beautiful quilts, and made pies that pastry chefs would be proud of. She was also a lifelong fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
elevated wp3mH Patsy put family above all else and will be forever missed by her husband Gerry and her four children, Elizabeth (Chris Osti), Stephen (Liza), Michael (Kylie), and Timothy, and five grandchildren, Lily, Nicola, Ava, Elliott, and Matthew.
elevated wp3mH We would like to extend our thanks to the staff of the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital and to the staff of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia, Ontario for the outstanding care they provided to Patsy.

When I think of Patsy, I think of her smile and her laugh. Both were so contagious and light. Magical is another word that fits.
She was such a wonderful person and will be missed.
To Liz Osti and family,
Wishing you peace and comfort during this very difficult time. Our deepest condolences to you Liz and your family for the loss of your dear mother.
Patsy, the fact that you’re no longer here if only I could have you back for just a little while then we can sit and talk again. I just want to let you know, you mean the world to me and will always will do too. A heart as dear as yours would give so unselfishly. The many beautiful things you’ve done for your family and for me. You will always be remembered. You’re forever in my heart until we meet again.
Chris, Liz my condolences and to your family, friends for your dear mom .
My deepest condolences to the family.

Dear Gerry and family, there are no words to describe the loss of your loved one’s passing. Patsy is awesome, we all know that and she will be missed. Prayers for you and your family during this trying time.
My heart goes out to her husband, my dearest friend Gerry, and her children. God bless.
What a sweet picture of our dear cousin Patsy who was always so kind and caring. We are so sorry Gerry and children for your loss. For Patsy she is now out of pain and enveloped in God’s love. It is wonderful for her but so sad for all of you we know. Take comfort knowing she is happy to be reunited with her Mom and Dad and sister Margaret. When God calls you home she will be waiting for you with open arms. Sorry we are not able to attend the funeral as we are all in Mexico but know we are praying for you and sending our love. Love cousins Michael, Margaret, Dorothy and Mark and Ed too. xoxo
Dear Liz – I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I’m sure she was greatly loved, and will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to you and your family.
Dear Liz – My sincerest condolences during such a heartbreaking time. I am so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family.
Very sorry to hear of Patricia’s passing. Her sister Joanne and my sister were best friends growing up.
It’s very hard to describe ‘light’ in words.
To describe ‘kindness’ in words.
To describe ‘soulfulness’ in words.
To describe ‘love’ in words.
Except to say that our/my dearest friend Pat was/is all of these words/feelings and more.
Our prayers, strength, support & love is far reaching to all of Pat’s family, especially her loving husband Gerry.
Dear Liz,
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. Wishing you comfort in the fond memories and strength. May your MOM rest in peace.
Much love to all of you during this very sad time. Pat had an infectious laugh and a lovely sense of humour. I have many funny and wonderful memories of her from childhood to my adulthood. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace dearest Patsy.
Liz and family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom sounds like an awesome person. Big hugs.
Susan
Beautiful picture that totally captures Pat’s spirit, I can hear her laugh, it was so infectious. Our Kris Kringle group treasure our friendships and she will be dearly missed. It was touching to hear she enjoyed putting the ornaments on the tree this year and remembered who they were from. We will all treasure the ones we received from her and the laughs we had along the way robbing and stealing off each other! Deepest condolences to Gerry, Elizabeth, Steve, Mike and Tim and all the family including her precious grandkids. She loved to give us updates about you all. May she rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Our deepest condolences Liz on the passing of your mother. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this time. With love and friendship always.
Dear Patsy. I am so sorry you left Edengrove so soon and though I didn’t know you well, I did indeed get to see your wonderful smile. It was truly beautiful. When we sat awhile on your front lawn, something you said that day has stayed with me, that you could handle whatever you encountered on your final journey, but the unbearable pain was for your children. Your thoughts were for family first.
Jerry, Dave and I send our most sincere condolences to you and your family, wishing you peace and healing at this very difficult time.
Patsy, from the day we met in our first quilting class, you’ve been a good friend and inspiration to many of us. You have a wonderful family, many friends and a joyful personality. Your legacy is greatly admired and your presence in many lives will be immeasurably missed by all of us. Rest in peace dear friend.
Deep Condolences to Gerry and family on the loss of your loved one. Special people touch and change your life and stay in your Heart forever. Patsy was one of those special people. A kind caring neighbour, friend and beautiful Soul who left an indelible mark. Always remembered and forever missed. In Spirit Heart and Treasured Memories Love lives on Forever in all those who were Blessed to have crossed Pat’s path and spent time with her.
Until we meet up again.
Dear Gerry and Elizabeth, I am sending you my deepest sympathies to you and your whole family. I am thinking about you and wishing you strength. I know Patsy was surrounded with lots of love.
My heartfelt condolences to Gerry, Elizabeth, Stephen, Micheal and Timothy. I will never forget Patsy’s kindness to me and our family when Maggie was a baby. Patsy’s beautiful, caring heart helped me and Maggie get through some of the toughest days of our lives. I am so grateful to have lived beside Patsy Samson. Bless you all.

Dear Pat, you have have graced this world with your beautiful laughter, your smile and your kindness. I’m sorry you left us so soon. Thank you for your friendship and I will keep the memories of our chats close to my heart. Thank you for the sweater you knit for my Jonathan 19 years ago; it is treasured and safe in his keepsake box. My children thank you for sharing your brownie recipe; they’ve become an absolute favourite and tickles me to hear them say, “Mom, can we make Pat Samson’s brownies”. I will miss you at our Kris Kringle gatherings and getting the updates on your family…you spoke about them with such pride. I will pray for Gerry, Stephen, Michael, Elizabeth and Tim and your beautiful grandchildren. May God look after them and see them through this terrible loss.
Patsy was a wonderful soul who will be missed by many, myself included. I first met her at 46 the Queensway in 1971 when she was working for Mrs. Thompson at the men’s boarding house. She was always cheerful and always working on making things better.
Over the years we became friends and stayed in touch when time allowed.
My condolences to both the Samson and Pocock families. The loss of a mother, daughter, sister, friend, and wife such as Patricia is unbearable.. Rest In Peace Patsy, much love, Mike D. Banff, Alberta
