Peter Paul Treacy (80), of King City, passed away on March 24, 2025. Peter was born to Peter and Cathleen Treacy, on October 26, 1944 in Dublin, Ireland. He was a spirited child who found a part of himself in the arts, loving to draw, paint, and play the guitar. His life in Canada began at age fourteen, when his family made their way to Toronto. He would forever love his birth country but especially loved Canada, and enjoyed many robust conversations that intersected his chosen home, history, and the plight of hard-working people. Peter is predeceased by his cherished wife of 43 years, Frances Tantalo, who died in 2012. Peter is survived by his devoted children, Peter (Sonia), Jennifer (Nick), and Sean (Jessica). Adored by his six grandchildren as the sweetest “Da”, he will forever be missed by Isabella and Nicole Treacy, Celine and Sophie Rapallo, and Hayden and Dylan Treacy.

Peter’s loving spirit is carried on by his younger brothers and sisters, Kathleen, Patrick, Sean, Lorraine, and Margaret, and their spouses Barbara, Valerie, Charles, and Alan.

Peter’s joys included his quiet mornings at his cottage in Huntsville, neighbourhood walks at both the cottage and at home, and meeting up with the many friends he made wherever he went. These connections enriched his life, but the truth is all who knew him were made better by his conversation gifts, his open outlook on life, and his uniquely heartfelt wit about the world. He enjoyed taking special care to practice his weekly musical offerings for his Tuesday night music group, where he would strum his guitar and sing with friends. His family is comforted in the belief that he will spend eternity with the love of his life Frances, laughing about the world they built and dancing to some great music.

To honour Peter’s memory, a funeral service will take place at the Chapel of St. Joseph, 211 Langstaff Road East, Thornhill, on Friday, March 28 at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Ontario Arts Foundation (OAC) in Peter’s name.
