elevated WKZrT Obituary
elevated WKZrT Remo was born in Cussignacco, Friuli, as the youngest of seven children. He and his twin, Romolo, were named after the legendary twins Remus and Romulus from Roman mythology, a fitting parallel to the strong bond they shared throughout their lives.
elevated WKZrT Remo was a devoted husband to Lina (née Violino), loving father to Carla and Gian Paolo (Susan), proud Nonno to Alexandria (Aleko) and Katarina (Jamieson), and cherished Bis-Nonno to Everleigh Mae, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
elevated WKZrT After immigrating to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1950, Remo and Lina married in 1955. In 1963, Remo and his family returned to Friuli, eventually settling in Toronto in 1964. Wherever Remo went, he carried his deep love for his Friulan heritage and family, which he shared through stories, traditions, and the warmth of his excellent cooking – notably for his pizzas, pastas, and polentas.
elevated WKZrT A hardworking man, Remo dedicated over 60 years to a successful career in the hospitality industry. As a sommelier and a creative force behind award-winning cocktails, including his renowned “Art” & “Picasso”, Remo’s passion for his craft was evident in every detail.
elevated WKZrT Yet, despite his many achievements, Remo’s true legacy lies in the way he lived his life. He was a man of unwavering patience, who never let anger darken his kind spirit. His smile was a constant, a reflection of his inner joy and his ability to find light even in difficult times. Remo accepted everyone with open arms, offering unconditional love and a sense of belonging to all who knew him. Remo’s gentle nature extended to all living creatures.
elevated WKZrT A lifelong soccer fan, Remo was always ready to cheer on his team, Udinese. And in quieter moments, he would enjoy a glass of his favourite grappa, sharing laughs and stories with family and friends.
elevated WKZrT Today, we remember Remo not just for the life he lived, but for the love, joy, and kindness he brought into our lives. In his memory, we raise a glass of “sgnape” and honour the man who taught us the true meaning of patience, acceptance, kindness, and unconditional love.

Dear Lina and family,
Our most sincere condolences on the passing of Remo. We have warm memories of Remo and Lina when we lived across the street from them on Lauder.
