It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Draper. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Eleanor Reta. Cherished father of Coleen & her husband Al, Lance & his wife Karen and Heather & her husband Domenic. Loving grandfather of Jason, Kelly, Jo-Anne, Shannon, Bridget, Stephen, Jessica, Joseph, Robert and Kyle. Robert was a proud great grandfather of 16 great grandchildren and great-great grandfather of Lydia. You will always be in our memories and in our hearts.
I’m gonna miss you so much grandpa, I love you
Thinking of you and wishing you moments of peace and comfort during this difficult time.
This has been a tough journey. I made you promises years ago dad….and I’ve kept them…..and I know you’re watching over mom.
Miss you every day.
Good day,
I wanted to send condolences upon learning about Great Uncle Bob’s passing.
I had only met this side of the family once at a reunion in Toronto approximately 1995 at the family home when Aunty Lea Fois (Draper) and her family came to visit from BC. This was the only time I met Aunty Lea, and after this event we traveled to Haliburton together and met Grandpa (William Draper), the one and only time in my life. I remember being welcomed at this reunion in Toronto. I remember the kids all playing soccer with a dodge ball and being asked to participate. I remember being confused as who was related to who. I remember the hospitality even though my family had been estranged, and I remember the love, laughing and happiness. That was something I was not accustomed to but admired and used as an example of how a family should be. I remember playing with a blonde haired baby/toddler who did not like having dirty hands requiring them to be washed named Bridgette with my cousin Angela (I myself was only in grade 4). I still have a couple photos somewhere of that day. I write this in the most humble expression possible because my mother Anna Lea Pudan (formerly Draper) used to speak highly of her Uncle Bob and her Aunt. I never understood the distance or family divide (from my mother’s choosing/ feelings), but I have great respect and admiration. Infact we still have multiple pottery pieces a mushroom cookie jar/ service set and a giant green glazed ashtray made supposedly by my mother’s Aunt and Uncle. I never got to meet the family any more times afterwards for reasons unknown to me, and that is not a comfortable feeling to have. Anna Lea Pudan (Draper) passed away March 9th 2024 and would speak every so often about fond childhood memories she had with the family she never let me officially meet and stay in contact with. I wanted to outreach and thank the Draper family for creating those positive memories as they clearly left a loving ever presence in my mother’s life in days gone past.
Again, me and my daughter (age 17) send condolences from Newfoundland and Labrador during this time of mourning.
