Shirley “Elaine” Coursey
elevated yZSI7 Shirley “Elaine” Coursey passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 at the age of 92. She is now reunited in Heaven with her loving husband Jack. Cherished by her dear children Shirley Ann (Dave) and Michael (Gillian). Loving grandmother to Thomas, Spencer (Michael) and Pierce (Feryn). She will always be remembered by her siblings Dick, Mary Ann, Diane (Roy) and Butch (Debbie). Elaine reunites with her parents Richard and Esther; grandson Andrew; daughter-in-law Michele; siblings Marj (Mel) and George (Mary); sister-in-law Cathy, brother-in-law Ron; Aunt Anne and Uncle Larry. Elaine’s memory will be held forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
elevated yZSI7 The family would like to express their profound thanks to the staff of Evergreen Palliative Care Physicians, in particular to Nurse Coordinator Kendra Macdonald, Dr. Lydia Cheung and all the nurses who took care of Elaine. They supported Elaine’s family in honouring her wishes to pass away, with dignity, in her own home.

elevated yZSI7 Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home (211 Langstaff Road East Thornhill, Ontario). The Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of St. Joseph (located within Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home). Interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery (8361 Yonge Street Thornhill, Ontario).

As Elaine’s sister, I know that I will always enjoy roses in December. I will cherish the memories of a sister who could always see the bright side, was kind and generous, concerned about our well being even in her last days. Hour long calls always brought much laughter, always ending with “love to you and your family.” Miss you big sister!💕

When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Your pure heart and kind soul always knew how to find the best part of life. And now, as your soul finds rest in the arms of our Almighty Father, my memories of you rest richly in my heart and mind. I only knew you for a little over a year, but your loving welcome into the Coursey Family so deeply touched my heart that it will be one of my fondest memories until the day I die.
