elevated v1JvF Obituary
God called Susan Mastrocola peacefully on Wednesday February 5th, 2025, at the age of 84 at home surrounded by her loving family.
elevated v1JvF Susan is now reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Carmine, with whom she was married 63 years. She is cherished and adored by her loving daughters Lina, Nancy, Rosemary (Gabriel Del Casale), and forever loved by her sisters Lucy and Anna Maria. The proudest and most devoted Nana to Lauren and Victoria. She is absolutely adored and loved by her granddaughters; they have the most special bond that will live on forever.
elevated v1JvF Susan is also reunited in heaven with her beloved parents Maria and Domenico De Cesare and her brothers Anthony and Mario. She will be sadly missed and held dear in the hearts of all her family, relatives, and many friends; she will never be forgotten.
elevated v1JvF Susan was born in Guardiaregia, Campobasso, Molise, Italy December 21, 1940. She moved to Canada in the mid 1950’s where, at a very young age became the lifeline of the family. She went to school, learned English and became the community translator; family, friends and neighbours all depended on her as they transitioned into their new lives in Canada. She graciously never denied anyone assistance and never asked for anything in return.
elevated v1JvF Susan later met Carmine; they married in 1959, making a beautiful life together, including purchasing their first and only home. She took such pride and great pleasure in caring for their home, making it the most loving environment for their daughters, eventually their loving son-in-law, beautiful granddaughters, as well as family and friends visiting.
elevated v1JvF To say Susan was a very strong woman is quite the understatement. She was courageous, determined, and resilient, a woman well ahead of her time. She never let anything get in her way. These amazing qualities have been proudly inherited by her daughters; in whom she will live forever!
elevated v1JvF Susan’s high standards were reflected in all aspects of her life, including the kitchen. She was known for preparing the most delicious meals for any occasion; everyone raved about her food. She put so much love into cooking, baking cookies and cakes, especially for special occasions where there was always enough food for days. No one could ever live up to her culinary skills; many have tried and many have failed, especially with her panettone and pizzelle.
elevated v1JvF Susan was adored by everyone she met. She had this warmth and ease about her. No matter where she went, grocery store, school events, hair salon, people gravitated to her and spent hours speaking with her. She was always described as a wonderful woman and mother. Growing up, her daughters were so very proud to have a mom who was so relatable, making her a friend as well as a Mom.
elevated v1JvF Susan loved shopping. She could never have enough purses, shoes, and jewellery, a habit her daughters and granddaughters very proudly inherited!
elevated v1JvF Without a doubt Susan leaves a legacy of strength, courage, resilience, devotion and dedication to her family and being the best role model for her daughters and granddaughters.
elevated v1JvF Susan’s daughters would like to thank the entire palliative medical team who took such good care of her over the past year; from Nurse Olga, Dr. Jonathan Abrams, to the entire nursing team and personal care workers who cared for her with such warmth, love and affection, we are extremely grateful.
